This is How Many Times Can A Boy Say No and it features Havana Davidson on lead vocals. During the show we did on MWR, I was saying that I'm a big fan of Havana. I met her in Mendocino and I always thought she had a cool speaking voice. You'll listen to this and agree she was the perfect choice for the vocals on this track.
How Many Times Can A Boy Say No by Runaway Cow
Joseph told me that the song was supposed to be How Many Times Can A Girl Say No, but the vocals just didn't work out with either him or Jason singing it, so they called Havana and the rest is history.
Now something else you might be interested in...
Working on this blog and the fan page, I was introduced to Eric Bose who actually recorded with Runaway Cow and later Ed & Ralph, which I played some of during that September 2010 feature I did with Joseph on Music World Radio. Eric was cool enough to pass on some unused promotional photos of Runaway Cow. Check out this one of the band actually chasing a cow. Doesn't it look like someone could put an eye out? I'm just floored that this may very well be the only photo of the band's living breathing mascot. When I commented about the danger of the situation, Bose said this: "the cow was alot quicker than one would think, but ya... we were young and stupid."I keep mentioning the show on MWR. As you might know, I like to feature interesting and talented artists on my show on www.musicworldradio.com. I'd bugged Joseph forever about doing one and when he was working on funsheepfun he agreed to let me interview him and play all of his music during my set. It took that promise a while to go anywhere, but one night at 12am, Joseph said, "I'm coming over in the morning to do that show. Be ready." Well, it might to have been that blunt... but it made me freak out enough to have no idea what we were going to do until he arrived. Keep in mind that my feature shows are usually 2 hours long and that this is the very first time I interviewed anyone for MWR, in person. Here's the podcast of that show. Eblison's Sunday Special Feature w/Joseph Ayres of Runaway Cow.
Well, that's it for this week. I hope you like the goodies I've given you (cow patties as Joseph likes to call them), and I hope you keep a close look at this blog and the face book page. There's stuff going on all the time.
... see ya'
